  • The engine ventilates heavily; the fault hasn't been investigated in detail. Included are the new breather kits shown in the pictures, but the issue may be elsewhere.

  • The car runs and moves forwards and backwards, i.e. it can drive under its own power onto a trailer, but I would not recommend driving it on public roads because of the breather problem.

  • The central part of the turbo, including its vanes, has been completely replaced.

  • The brakes were new but have now rusted after a long period standing; they may improve with use.


  • The car was in my everyday use for only about 2–3 years during which the following were renewed: timing belt/water pump kit, brakes, front strut top mounts, front lower control arms, front/lower engine mount arm, middle section of the exhaust, left driveshaft (SKF), central part of the turbo with vanes, and good Nokian studded tyres fitted underneath.

  • The gearbox oil was changed by flushing (flush method).
