Ford Sierra **LATELA**, 1990, Parkano

It's always a pleasure to sell a car that's familiar from TV. Especially when it's at least the mother and even the father of all car shows, namely Latela. This example had lots of screen time and appeared in almost every episode of season one as Lauri Huttunen's car. If cars were awarded Venla prizes, this one would unquestionably have won Best Supporting Role back then. Above all, the car is still largely in the same condition as 14 years ago — unbelievable! Hopefully this piece of cultural heritage will be cared for in the future and treated like an archaeological find.

Briefly about the car. The previous owner carried out a lot of work late last year for the MOT. Replaced items include the rear wheel arches, fuel tank, front brake discs with pads, rear brake shoes with hardware, cylinders and handbrake cables. After the MOT the original DOHC engine was completely destroyed and replaced with the only engine available on the shelf — a two-litre DOHC with a FAJS carburettor and a 4‑speed gearbox. The steering rack has been changed to a non‑power‑assisted unit. Note: the next MOT will require the DOHC system to be refitted complete with its ancillaries. It would be wisest to find a very rotten or even accident‑damaged donor to provide these parts in one go. MOT valid until 16/11/2026 and the car is roadworthy and currently in use.

Equipment/appearance. The car has genuine RS bumpers and skirts and a proper limited‑slip differential. Twin headlights and the “Cossuri” grills in the bonnet add a sense of power and the exhaust sounds masculine. Included are new blue mudflaps for each corner (exactly the same type that were fitted originally). The sunroof is present but the winding mechanism is seized. The radio is a Sony Bluetooth/USB head unit. On the car are good studded tyres on attractive white race‑style aluminium wheels. Also included are worn friction (non‑studded) tyres loose, if you want to swap them onto these wheels for summer use.

Faults and omissions: First, to repeat, the car currently has a carburettor setup without a header. The carburettor choke/enrichment does not work. The body has issues and these are shown in the photos in the listing. The rear arches/quarters were spot‑repaired and repainted by the previous owner after replacing the arches, and there are other patches. Overall the car presents well and could be restored to an excellent condition with partial repainting. The speedometer cable is broken so the speedometer doesn't turn and the true mileage is unknown. The tachometer does not work due to the engine swap. I haven't tried locking the doors because these Sierras often have problems and the doors can lock into the rear lock easily. The spoiler's third‑brake‑light lens is missing and there are likely other faults that I haven't thought of. The photos give a good idea of the vehicle's condition.
