Saab 9-5, 1999, Tampere

Rough but mechanically well-functioning Saab for sale. I no longer need it since my commute became walkable. It has been used daily for the last two years and I have done a few longer trips (e.g. to Lapland). During my ownership (about 2 years) there have been no major faults; wear parts have been replaced regularly. Recently replaced items include front lower wishbone packages and the brakes overall, right rear brake caliper (and discs), starter motor, pollen filter and outside air temperature sensor. At the moment only the handbrake needs tightening, parts are already available. MOT valid until early November.

The water pump failed late summer last year and it was not urgent to replace at the time, so that will need attention if you want full heater/air-conditioning performance. Otherwise the air conditioning worked fine. Cruise control, towbar and both engine block and interior heaters are fitted. The car has a turbocharger.

It uses some oil in use, but in my experience relatively modestly. There are no external leaks. Oil and filter have been changed regularly at the start of summer. I have only used quality synthetic oil, as did the owner before me (or so they claimed). I cannot vouch for earlier history.

Fuel consumption: around 8 L/100 km on the motorway, combined nearer 9 L/100 km. I haven't done enough pure urban driving to give a reliable figure.

The previous owner removed the fog lights. That hasn't affected my driving. The driver’s seat heater does not work, but the passenger’s does. I have not investigated further as it has not been a problem. There is some rust, but so far only in non-critical places and it has not affected the MOT.

Included are good studded winter tyres (Hankook Winter i*cept RS2), which are still fitted. Driven two winters, in good condition. The summer tyres will need replacing at some point; poor wheel alignment has worn the inner edges (see photos). There is still some tread left, they will do for early summer. Both sets come on alloy wheels. Also included are extra accessories and spare parts bought for the car (some shown in the photos), such as at least a Bluetooth radio adapter and an interior heater.

A reliable everyday car for commuting or grocery runs. It has never left me stranded and always starts, even in severe cold (a few times from cold start, though I try to avoid that).

The car will be driven until sale; a few kilometres may be added.
