For sale: a four-wheel-drive Mercedes in good running order with a strong engine and good equipment. Just inspected and serviced, ready to drive!

This is a later facelift model but still fitted with the older, more reliable engine compared with subsequent model years. It does not have the same expensive recurring faults found in the later engine series, and these cars typically cover high mileages, so this example still has a moderate odometer reading. Having owned several cars of this body type, I must say the feel and character of this one are very different from the base models. The car was imported from Sweden in 2023.

Next inspection not until 30 March 2027, clean paperwork with no repair orders!

Equipment includes:

• Bi-xenon headlights.

• Leather interior.

• Electrically adjustable front seats with three memory positions (driver memory also saves mirror and steering wheel positions, which are also electrically adjustable).

• Vario steering (parametric steering). This gives a noticeably more comfortable and better steering feel than the base models.

• Front and rear parking sensors.

• COMAND display system with navigation.

• Linguatronic voice control for the entertainment system, navigation, phone, etc. (in English).

• Telephone equipment — a Sony Ericsson mobile phone is stored in the centre armrest.

• Bluetooth for phone calls.

• AUX input for music (3.5 mm jack).

• Dual-zone automatic climate control, with a switchable external air purification using two activated carbon filters.

• Cruise control.

• Avantgarde equipment pack (e.g. blue-tinted side windows and rear window).

• Fold-down rear seats and a luggage compartment cover.

• Towbar.

• Two sets of tyres on rims. Winter tyres with good tread currently fitted. Summer Michelin tyres with about 6 mm tread — plenty for continued use.

• Two remote keys.

• Defa programmable heating system with interior heater, engine coolant heater and a trickle charger for the battery.

The car has been maintained comprehensively and proactively since new. Recent services:

March 2026 (~282,000 km):

• Engine oil and filter.

• Oil filter housing seals.

• Left front lower control arm and outer tie rod end.

November 2025 (~280,000 km):

• Transmission oil flushed (MB 236.14 / Fuchs TITAN ATF 4134), transmission oil filter, oil pan gasket and transmission electrical connector with seals.

• Air conditioning recharge/service (it did blow cold in summer, but this is good to do regularly).

August 2025 (~278,500 km):

• Engine oil and filter.

• Transfer case oil for the four-wheel drive flushed (MB 236.13).

• Front and rear differential oils (MB 235.7).

• Engine air filter.

• All cabin air filters (main filter and two additional filters).

July 2024 (~271,000 km):

• Engine oil and filter.

• New spark plugs and leads.

• Fuel filter.

• Engine air filter.

• All cabin air filters (main filter and two additional filters).

• Valve cover gaskets and breather hoses.

• Right front lower control arm.

• Rear brakes (front brakes were done slightly earlier as well).

• Rear springs.

The car has been very reliable and is a pleasure to drive, but it is now surplus to requirements. Thanks to the four-wheel drive you won’t be stuck revving the wheels at traffic lights in winter. No fluids have needed topping up (apart from obviously fuel and screenwash), and the car has not leaked onto the garage floor. The interior is smoke-free and smells clean.
