The oval 21-litre inner container fits a biodegradable bag that can be removed hygienically for composting.

Ekohytte Frost consumes only 0.36 kWh/day — about half the consumption of comparable competing products. The thick base insulation and high adjustable feet allow the freezing toilet to be used in heated indoor spaces.

Before use

• After removing the product from the packaging, check for any damage. Contact the seller if you find any damage.

• Leave the unit upright for at least half an hour. Any oil that may have entered the cooling circuit during transport will then flow back into the compressor.

• The unit has adjustable feet. Adjust them before use so the toilet stands firmly and level.

• The toilet seat is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything that does not compost there, e.g. rubbish, sanitary items, chemicals, detergents, matches, ash or cigarette ends.

Placement
The toilet must be placed in a warm indoor space. It can be used on underfloor‑heated floors thanks to its thick base insulation and high feet. Heat will increase the unit's electricity consumption, so we do not recommend placing it immediately next to a radiator or another heat source. Optimal room temperature is +10 to +22 °C, maximum +30 °C. Place the toilet level and secure it using its adjustable feet.

Use

• Press the base of the bio‑bag into the inner container and fold the bag edges over the container so it can be dropped into the toilet seat.

• Check that the bucket handle is inside so the seat ring and lid close properly.

• Plug into the socket and switch the toilet on so the green indicator light comes on.

• Wait about one hour before first use.

Emptying

• When the bucket is about two‑thirds full, the bio‑bag must be changed.

• Fold the top edge of the bio‑bag into the container and lift the container out of the seat.

• Compost the waste in a domestic or garden compost bin to which you have added plenty of dry material before emptying.

• Pierce the bag surface, e.g. with a pitchfork, and cover with a layer of dry material.

• Check for ice around the rim of the inner container. Defrost if necessary and dry the walls.

• Insert a new bag.

Use of drying material
Drying material is not required in a freezing toilet. Drying material should only be added during the subsequent composting stage.

Cleaning
Clean the Ekohytte by wiping with a damp cloth. You may use any general household cleaners. The inner container can be removed from the seat and washed with water. Dry it before replacing. Do not use water to clean the rear cooling compartment. Clean it once a year by vacuuming.

Longer periods of non‑use

• Unplug the unit

• Empty, clean and dry the inner container and cooling compartment
