Very tidy, low-mileage city SUV with locking four-wheel drive. A warm winter car — you won't be cold in this.

Owned by the previous owner from new and regularly serviced. Paintwork in great condition. Interior tidy. The typical fault for these — a rot-prone rear subframe — was replaced just under a year ago. A few rear control arms were also changed at the same time. Wheel alignment was then checked and adjusted. Drives straight as a train.

And although there is a lot of good, there is also something bad. The car developed a mysterious fault last winter. Very intermittently and without pattern it may fail to start! It never stalls while driving, but regardless of the length of the previous trip it can happen that after switching off it will not start. It has always started after some time, so it's an annoying intermittent fault. The starter and battery are in good condition and crank happily, but the engine just won't fire. Sometimes it starts on the second try, sometimes only after 5–60 minutes. It does not leave a fault code, and both keys are recognised (checked with a tester). The camshaft and crankshaft position sensors have been replaced, without effect. The engine is otherwise lively and economical.

The car was therefore left standing after the inspection last winter to wait for a better time, place and season to diagnose and find the fault. That time never came and another winter passed. Now it would be suitable for someone familiar with this model to investigate cheaply. The fault is likely very small once found — probably a poor connection or grounding.

Now that I've put it back into use it has been driven and has started and run without issue.

Can be registered as a light commercial vehicle for favourable running costs per km.
