Workshop diagnosis: "The vehicle arrived on a tow truck — the engine runs unevenly and makes a loud noise.
The engine vibrates strongly when driven into the workshop and is noisy — checked the crankshaft pulley; condition OK — removed the cooling fan and rotated the engine by hand — the engine binds significantly.
Removed the oil filter and found considerable metal shavings in the filter.
It is very likely that a bottom-end bearing has spun, causing the rough running and loud noise."


Summer tyres estimated to have approx. 3 mm tread; likely still legal for road use but not in great condition.
