Up for auction: an older crossover ML 280 4MATIC!

The car has seen years and kilometres, but externally it is in reasonably tidy condition. The body has some issues and work needed (see pictures!), but with just under 400,000 km and about 20 years of age this is not surprising. There is rust in several places, and the air suspension works only partially (3/4): the front right air spring is leaking and for this reason the car shows the code "visit workshop" when the suspension is raised. Also the central display does not work, and therefore the radio and other functions do not either. Holding the power button briefly shows the Mercedes logo on the screen, but it goes out after about 3 seconds and nothing happens. The parking sensors are also faulty; they are fitted at both front and rear.

Otherwise the car is mechanically sound: gears shift and the cruise control works. The car also has a service book with all entries; the most recent service is from 2024.

So, a bit of a project for someone with the skills — good for an evening in the garage, and why not back on the road; the MOT is valid until July!

Defects and other observations

During a short test drive we made the following observations:

  • Parking sensors not working

  • One air suspension bag likely leaking

  • In terms of driving the car behaves as it should: gears shift smoothly and the brakes work well. The engine also runs nicely.
