The oval 21-litre inner container takes a biodegradable bag that can be removed hygienically for composting.

Ekohytte Frost consumes only 0.36 kWh per 24 h — roughly half the consumption of comparable competing products. The thick base insulation and high adjustable feet mean the freezing toilet should be installed in a heated space.

Before use

• After unpacking, check the product for damage. Contact the seller if you find any damage.

• Leave the unit upright for at least half an hour. Oil that may have flowed into the pipe during transport will then return to the compressor.

• The unit has adjustable feet. Adjust them before use so the toilet is firmly level.

• The toilet seat is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything non‑compostable in it, e.g. rubbish, pads, chemicals, detergents, matches, ash or cigarette butts.

Placement
The toilet must be placed indoors in a heated space. It can be used in rooms with underfloor heating thanks to the thick base insulation and high feet. Heat increases electricity consumption, so we do not recommend placing the unit close to a radiator or other heat source. The optimal room temperature is +10 to +22 °C, maximum +30 °C. Place the toilet level and make it secure using the feet.

Use

• Press the bottom of the bio‑bag into the inner container and fold its top edges over the rim so the container can be lowered into the seat

• Ensure the bucket handle is inside so the seat ring and lid close properly

• Plug into the wall and switch the unit on; the green indicator will light

• Wait about one hour before first use

Emptying

• When the bucket is about two‑thirds full, replace the bio‑bag

• Fold the bag's top edges inside the container and lift the container out of the seat

• Compost the waste in a household or garden compost bin after adding plenty of dry material before emptying

• Pierce the bag surface (for example with a fork) and cover with a layer of dry material

• Check for ice build‑up on the bucket rim. Defrost and dry the walls if needed.

• Fit a new bag in place

Use of absorbents
No absorbents are required in the freezing toilet. Add absorbents only during secondary composting.

Cleaning
Wipe the Ekohytte with a damp cloth. You may use any common household cleaners. The inner container can be removed from the seat and washed with water. Dry it before replacing. Do not use water to clean the rear wall. Clean it once a year by vacuuming.

Longer periods of non‑use

• Unplug the unit

• Empty, clean and dry the container and cooling compartment

• Leave the lid open

• The unit can be stored in an unheated space
