For sale: a well-kept and tidy Volkswagen Jetta from 2006.

The powerful and economical 2.0 TDI diesel engine together with a 6-speed manual gearbox provide a comfortable and effortless driving experience.

Car passed inspection on 11 December 2025; the only advisory was a crack in the windscreen. Fortunately windscreens are very inexpensive to replace.

The car has just had a major service: oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter, pollen filter, right front dog bone (control arm), front brake discs and pads, sills welded and sealed, underbody checked with one spot welded and sealed, wheel arches checked and sealed, EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve opened and cleaned, new windscreen wipers and checked that all suspension/undercarriage parts are in good order.

A new alternator and auxiliary drive belt were recently fitted. Timing components were serviced at 313,000 km and a new turbo was fitted at 213,000 km. The service booklet has been fully completed from new to the present — photos available on request.

The paint was polished recently and given a hard wax — it shines nicely and water beads on the surface. The headlights and rear lights were also polished.

The car is generally tidy inside and out but it is not new. 385,000 km and 19 years, so very tidy for its age. The body has a few scratches but no major dents. The largest rust spots have been repaired and painted over but small marks remain. For example, a small starting rust spot by the front passenger door handle.

The interior is very clean — the seats were cleaned recently and the cabin has been refreshed. Naturally there is wear on the buttons and steering wheel at this mileage. The radio has been upgraded from the original to a more powerful unit, so the music sounds better than originally.

Winter tyres are in good condition and the summer tyres are too. Summer tyres have about 5 mm of tread remaining. Wheels show signs of use and normal wear.

No warning lights illuminate and the car is stable to drive. It has always started even after standing for a few days in freezing conditions. The car has a Defa engine heater and interior heater to ensure easy cold starts in winter. An additional front light improves driving comfort on dark winter roads.

The main defect is the already-mentioned cracked windscreen; it may well still pass the next inspection with only an advisory.

The winter tyres have not been balanced, which causes a slight vibration above 100 km/h, but you generally wouldn’t drive faster than that in winter.

Other faults are mostly cosmetic: for example, the rust touch-ups are not a professional finish but are acceptable for a car at this price.

The car is old and has some mileage, so I cannot provide any warranty, but the inspection man commented that it’s unusually tidy for a Volkswagen of its age.
