A reasonable, practical Volvo 940 — suitable for winter icy conditions or as a daily driver.

The car has been used by me almost daily between Seinäjoki and Kurikka.

The car is currently de-registered (not in use).

- Timing components replaced about 30,000 km ago

- Electric fan with separate switch

- Voltmeter

- Heats up like a sauna

- In the instrument cluster the fuel gauge, rev counter and clock work intermittently (the cluster appears to have a contact fault; the temperature gauge and lights started working but do not stay on)

- Handbrake holds when lifted sufficiently

- Engine pulls well for a naturally aspirated unit

- Gearbox shifts well

- 76 mm centre pipe, reduces to 64 mm at the rear silencer

- Central locking works


Negatives

- The instrument cluster does not show speed or trip, does not register kilometres and the temperature gauge works only sometimes

- Front door window regulators are broken. Driver's one does not close fully; passenger's drops the window. I will replace with new/used ones before sale if I can get them.

- Tracking needs aligning. I will do this when I can.

- From beside the gear lever you can see straight to the ground as some covers are missing.

- Exhaust pipe resonates slightly

- Car has been smoked in and there appear to be a couple of burn holes in the seat

- Front door cards: lower storage pocket is broken and a bit worn

- Kempper rear end
