The torque wrench is a precision instrument for setting tightening torque. It is designed for tightening threaded joints so that the clamping force is known and matched to the strength of the materials and the bolt and nut. The wrench uses a mechanical click mechanism that gives an audible "click" when the set torque is reached. The torque scale is in the handle and adjustment is made by turning the handle. Once the desired torque is set, the wrench is locked with the locking device at the end of the handle.
