Upright barrel sauna. Building permission freely!!!, Oulu

Hyvän Kaupan Paikka proudly presents:

A fun sauna for every small sauna space: Upright barrel sauna

Here at Hyvän Kaupan Paikka we must have been in a playful mood, as after one meeting we decided to stand a barrel sauna upright. The result was the Upright barrel sauna—a fun sauna where bathing can still be taken seriously, as despite its humour this is a full-blooded sauna.

The Upright barrel sauna is rather like the Rexona of saunas. It fits almost anywhere in the garden, or even in an apartment-block courtyard. And there is no need for deodorant, since you will sweat in the sauna anyway. With a diameter of just 2.1 metres, the only problem with positioning is having so many possible locations. You can of course order several Upright barrel saunas around your garden, but start with one and get a truly compact yet functional sauna for a small space. Order an Upright barrel sauna and change the direction of sauna bathing!

A sauna for difficult locations

Barrel saunas are lightweight and can be moved even after the first sauna session. Built on a solid gravel bed, the secret is the support skids beneath the barrel, keeping the sauna off the ground and allowing easy relocation. The absence of heavy, permanent foundations makes positioning easier, and many use a barrel sauna as a lakeside sauna, since a sauna with permanent foundations cannot be built near the shoreline. You can of course place your barrel sauna on a terrace or pour a concrete base beneath it, but positioning is largely a matter of imagination. Still, remember to check the base with a spirit level so the sauna stands straight. The intention is not to set off with the sauna while bathing.

The barrel sauna can be moved by forklift or tractor loader using lifting straps. A sauna moved to the shore for summer can easily be relocated nearer the cottage or house for winter with help from a farming neighbour.

Sit or stand in the Upright barrel sauna

You can tint the untreated sauna in colours of your choice. The spruce-built sauna capsule accommodates up to 4–6 bathers, who can decide whether to sit on sturdy pine benches or enjoy the high ceiling from standing positions. The Harvia M3 stove provides gentle heat, while the cheerful firelight shines through the glass door onto the sauna walls. Small windows and the door window also bring light into the Upright barrel sauna. One window can be opened.

Managing wastewater

The optional Sauna-Seppo wash-water filter removes wastewater concerns: wash water passed through the filter can be released back into nature, without the building authorities issuing environmental fines.

Quality, experience and first-class design

Hyvän Kaupan Paikka has made garden buildings for years. We have gained experience in continuously improving our products, and therefore always strive to do our best. We continue developing our products based on experience and customer feedback. This is why the casting defects in the Upright barrel sauna have already been corrected. Hyvän Kaupan Paikka saunas are built under strict quality control, which prevents common material variations and keeps quality consistent. We always supply our customers with a sauna matching the catalogue and display sauna, without reserving the right to make technical changes. Thus, when ordering from Hyvän Kaupan Paikka, the customer can be sure the product is the same as in the image used to market it. That is why we dare to promise a satisfaction guarantee for our saunas!

Almost light enough to carry on your shoulder

We are happy to deliver the complete package right to your home, and you do not need lifting equipment when choosing delivery by HIAB truck. The Upright barrel sauna weighs only 800 kg, so you can also collect it with your own trailer if your car's towing capacity is sufficient. You could almost throw it over your shoulder and carry it home—but not quite. A trailer is better.

The delivery includes everything essential, including roofing felt. We can also provide architectural drawings for the building authorities if needed, although a sauna of this size should nowadays be possible without an actual building permit. The customer is responsible for constructing the foundations. Illustrated instructions and building-permit drawings for the cottage are available in advance on request, so when the delivery arrives you can start putting your new, fun garden sauna together. You will need a drill, screwdriver, hammer, saw, tape measure, pencil and calm enthusiasm for the assembly work. Always study the instructions carefully before carrying out each stage.
