Valco VMK25 – noise-cancelling headphones, Vantaa

Used but tidy. Includes protective case, charger, audio cable and aeroplane adapter.

"You might think that something brilliant cannot be improved. VMK20 Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones have sold tens of thousands of pairs and received almost nothing but praise from both the media and customers, but development never stops and there is always something new to learn. Valco listened carefully to feedback on the VMK20 noise-cancelling headphones and built an "older brother" for the hugely popular model – the VMK25 noise-cancelling headphones.

First, we redesigned the look once again with Finnish Ratamo Design. We aimed for a modern appearance while retaining the "family resemblance", so there is no need to mistake the VMK25 headphones for the postman's son.

Since we do not think wireless headphones need to glow in the dark and flash, both operating LEDs are on the inside of the ear cup. This ensures you will not be noticed when crouching in a bush and stalking prey with these on.

A fun detail of the VMK25 model is the amusing, magnetically attached coloured covers, which can easily be changed (and washed) and customised yourself.

The VMK20 noise-cancelling headphones were already finely tuned, and adjustments alone could not have made them better. Therefore, these feature new composite drivers, enabling even better sound quality than before. The Bluetooth technology is Qualcomm quality here too.

We also invested in noise cancellation: these headphones have a completely new noise-cancelling circuit, supported by substantial, sound-absorbing memory-foam cushions. Noise cancellation now also includes what we think is a silly but customer-requested transparency feature.

Finnish design – Valco designer Lauri Lumme has improved the model so that the VMK25 catches less wind and is better suited to all kinds of exercise. We believe headphones do not need to glow in the dark or flash, so both operating LEDs are on the inside of the headphones. This means you can trust that you will not be noticed when sneaking around wearing your VMK25s. In addition, we made the side panels replaceable, making them much easier to keep clean, customise yourself and change according to current social-media trends. If you have a 3D printer, you can download models for printing your own covers here free of charge.

Ergonomics and quality – The relocated size adjustment provides a wider adjustment range than before (making life easier especially for those with very large or small heads). An all-round sturdier, higher-quality construction and a wonderfully soft-touch finish. The overall fit is firmer than before, the surface materials feel a little more convincingly luxurious, the ear cups are slightly roomier and the frame is even more durable.

Even better sound quality – The VMK20 already earned plenty of acclaim among golden ears. The new (and larger, better) drivers deliver top-class sound. Our audio guru Jasse "Jazmanaut" Kesti could hardly believe his ears when he got to tune these. The sound profile is familiar and studio-neutral, refined and adjusted by our audio wizard Jasse “Jazmanaut” Kesti. Music sounds the way it was painstakingly mixed and mastered in the studio. The title of “sound obsessive” is certainly deserved!

Excellent noise cancellation – The completely new noise-cancelling chipset suppresses background noise even more effectively. Noise cancellation now also includes what we think is a silly but customer-requested transparency feature. Pressing a button makes the headphones use the noise-cancelling microphones to let surrounding sounds through. Is that anti-noise cancellation? It is handy for hearing announcements, for example, and even eavesdropping on your companions when they think the other person is listening to Sebulba at full volume next to them. Ha-ha!" – Valco
