Mercedes-Benz 300 SE / S 320 W140, model year 1992. Sold for repair.

Mercedes-Benz W140 with a 3.2-litre M104.990 petrol engine and automatic transmission. The odometer shows approximately 303,000 km.

The engine head gasket has been replaced. The engine's mechanical timing has been checked and appears to be in order. The spark plugs, fuel filter and coolant have been replaced.

Before the spark plugs were replaced, starting was clearly more difficult. The car started most reliably in N. In P, the starting behaviour was occasionally unusual, and after releasing the key the engine could try to start in the wrong direction, i.e. there was backfire.

After replacing the spark plugs, the car starts much better, and the previously observed backfire no longer occurs.

The car starts and can be driven, but once warm the engine runs a little unevenly. The exact cause has not been fully identified, so driving is not recommended before further diagnosis.

The vehicle has not been inspected due to lack of time and other projects.
