Everything always has a story. Museum-registered Mazda 626 2.0 – a car that has been part of my life for forty-six years.

In 1980, our family bought a new Mazda 626 2.0.

I was four years old then, and I still remember going with my father to pick up the car from the then Suur-Savon Auto, at Jääkärinkatu 35.

Of course, I could never have imagined that the same car would stay with me for the next 46 years.

My father passed away in 1984. After that, the Mazda also became a concrete memory of my father for me. The car had a very special role in our family, as my father was always the one who drove.

After my father's death, my mother learned to drive again. The Mazda took us on cottage trips with my mother until the end of the 1990s.

After that, the Mazda spent more and more time in its garage under the apartment building. Still, we could not bring ourselves to part with it then – perhaps precisely because it held so many memories.

In 2007, the Mazda was museum inspected, and it has been in the historic vehicle register ever since.

The car was rustproofed twice at the time, in 1982 and 1984, and the markings and legendary stickers remain on the rear window. The car has been serviced properly, though in later years, when it has not been in use, the service intervals have also become longer. The service book can be seen in the pictures. The mileage of 87,226 km is genuine.

The pictures best show the car's current condition. This is not a new car, and it is not being sold as one. However, it is a rare piece of early-1980s automotive history and for today's Japanese car enthusiast a great opportunity to get a touch of 80s atmosphere – and above all, a car with a story.

This car has been with me for almost my entire life. Now the time has come to see whether it will find a new enthusiast who understands what preserving and owning a car like this means.

Perhaps the Mazda could continue its story for decades to come.
