A genuine Cobra, ready to be sold quickly before winter storage, with its performance boosted by a Vortech supercharger and likely fitted from the factory with every extra available at the time; production total was only 5,007 units. The engine was rebuilt in 2014, after which it has been driven approx. 25,000 km, with money spent about the same as on a basic GT. Pro-comp, Comp Cams, ARP, MSD... Bilstein suspension (€1,000)...

V8, manual, limited-slip differential and, in normal driving, even economical. What more could you want from a car.

• remote central locking

• electric windows

• electric driver’s seat, orthopaedic type, including side adjustment

• electric mirrors

• air conditioning

• cruise control

• leather interior

• radio/cassette/CD player (they have not been connected by me, functionality not tested)

• remote boot release, etc.

It has been used by me for a couple of summers as a daily/leisure car and has worked well.

But because the car already has age and this would be more than just praise, there are also things that need attention here and there, listed below...

- clear coat issue on the bumpers (pictures), otherwise the body is straight and, for its age, the paint is even good; I have not noticed any rust anywhere.

- the seats are dried out and cracked, especially the driver’s seat (picture)

- the gear wheel for the driver’s seat length adjustment spins freely for some reason and the seat is now in the rearmost position; anyone under 180 cm will already need to stand on tiptoe.

- the headliner sags a little at the rear (picture)

- it blows the airbag fuse and then lights the airbag warning lamp; this has not been investigated and has done this since the previous owner’s time. A new clock spring comes with the car and may possibly fix it.

- a wheel alignment may be in order because parts have been replaced over time, almost anything really

- on the previous inspection it failed emissions; the cause turned out to be a faulty temperature sensor, which was replaced but is a Transit model, because it was immediately available on a Motonet shelf and fit the threads; for this reason the fan no longer comes on by itself and has been temporarily replaced with a switch

- a larger intercooler has been fitted to the front but the piping is unfinished

- the valve cover gaskets weep a little oil; it uses oil from the upper mark down to the lower mark over the driving season (new gaskets included and quite a lot of other parts as well).

There may be other minor issues that do not come to mind right now, but nothing that affects use.
