Well now, this auction has real swagger, and of course it has just been inspected and serviced, ready to drive away! Driving this with a blade of grass in your mouth and a stetson on your head up and down the village road makes you feel like the toughest cowboy in town straight away. No wonder everyone in America has one of these. It is a very impressive car both in looks and on the road. In terms of fuel appetite, this is top-class, meaning it runs on all petrol grades sold in Finland (95E, 98E & E85) and, as a bonus, also natural gas/biogas (NOTE: the system is out of order, read the full ad text). Only diesel does not suit this, but that is almost at caviar prices per kilo these days anyway, so it is a huge advantage not to have the usual Cummins under the bonnet! On top of everything else, this is a car for everyone with a B licence, with five seats and ISOFIX mounts in the rear. If needed, the bed will still fit prams, pets and luggage, and even a caravan behind it, so this is a true family all-rounder. To be honest, though, I would rather recommend this to someone with a Dodge Ram “tattooed on their chest”, i.e. preferably someone who is already committed to the make and model.

More extensive servicing and repairs were carried out in August. Basic servicing done, including replacement of engine oil (Castrol 0W-20), brake fluid, and the oil and air filters. In addition, a more thorough rear brake overhaul was carried out, including discs, pads, handbrake shoes and the rear brake callipers with brackets. Rear axle oil, pinion seal, wiper blades and the serpentine belt tensioner were also replaced, and the air conditioning was serviced. The previous owner had recently also replaced the front brake callipers with brackets and the brake master cylinder (I added notes on these to the service book myself based on an interview with the owner). Inspected in August without remarks, and roadworthiness is valid until 16/08/2027.

Equipment: Fitted with all-season Nokian Rotiva tyres in size 275/60R20, manufactured in 2019. There is an engine block heater and interior socket, and included in the deal are also an interior heater fan, outdoor cable and an extension lead for the trailer socket too. Notable equipment includes air conditioning, remote central locking, alarm, front seat heaters, cruise control, electric windows, ISOFIX mounts, leather upholstery, multifunction steering wheel, Infinity audio system, tow bar, bed liner and hard tonneau cover, not forgetting the heavy-duty front recovery eyes, which could probably move a whole apartment building if needed. It also has electronically selectable four-wheel drive with locking and a separate low-range 4x4. It should therefore be enough for every need, depending on the terrain.

Faults or observations: The natural gas system is currently out of order (does not affect the car’s operation, and does not trigger warning lights). There is a corrosion-caused leak in the pipe leading from the filler connector, so it must be used with proper repair equipment before refuelling with gas. The system itself was installed only in 2019, so the components are relatively new. The lower body sections, bumpers and fender flares were painted with Raptor a few years ago, and there is some bubbling underneath, especially at the lower part of the tailgate. The chassis itself is sound and unwelded, but has normal surface rust. The rear arches have traditionally rotted under the fender flares, and the flares are therefore slightly distorted. Repair sections will therefore be needed for the bed at some point. The gearbox has once gone into limp mode with codes P0750 and P0770 referring to the solenoid pack, but after cleaning the connector this has not happened again (gearbox repaired and strengthened in 2020 at JM-Garage). If it does become necessary later, the solenoid pack costs about €200 abroad and can be replaced easily at the same time as the gearbox oil and filter. Any Dodge Ram enthusiast knows that these usually do not have any fault that cannot be fixed by cleaning the connector or ground point! There is a slight coolant seep from around the water pump when the engine cools down, but not while driving. There is also a little other sweating, but in my opinion it does not mark its territory. The air conditioning compressor rattles slightly when the air conditioning engages, but it does not affect operation. The tyres also show slight imbalance or unevenness. A crack in the left rear light has been repaired with tape, and the front passenger side mirror adjustment did not work sideways. Not all equipment may have been tested. I will add more observations later if anything else comes to mind.
