We at Hyvän Kaupan Paikka must be in a bit of a playful mood, and generally a humorous bunch, because after one meeting we decided to stand a barrel sauna upright. That gave rise to the Freestanding barrel sauna, a fun sauna which you can still enjoy properly in, as it is a full-fledged sauna despite its playful design.

The Freestanding barrel sauna is a bit like the Rexona of saunas. It fits almost anywhere in yards and even in the yard of an apartment building. And you do not even need deodorant, because you will sweat in a sauna anyway. With a diameter of only 2.1 m, the only problem when placing it is that there are so many possible locations. Of course, you can order many Freestanding barrel saunas along your yard, but start with one and you will get a truly compact yet functional sauna for a small space. A sauna for tight spots

Barrel saunas are lightweight and can still be moved even after the first steams. The secret of a barrel sauna built on a solid gravel base is that it has support skids underneath, keeping the sauna off the ground and making it easy to move. The absence of heavy fixed foundations makes it easier to place the sauna, and many use a barrel sauna as a beach sauna, for example, because a sauna with fixed foundations cannot be built close to the shoreline. Of course, you can place your barrel sauna on a terrace or pour a concrete base underneath it, but positioning is mainly limited by your imagination. Still remember to use a spirit level on the base so the sauna stands straight. The aim is not to take the sauna out on the road in the middle of a steam session.

The barrel sauna can be moved with a forklift or a tractor's hitch using straps. In summer, a sauna moved to the beach can easily be shifted closer to the cottage or house for winter with the help of the neighbour's farmer.

In the Freestanding barrel sauna, you can sit or stand

The ready-to-stain sauna can be tinted in colours of your choice. The sauna capsule built from spruce can fit up to 4-6 bathers, and bathers can decide for themselves whether to sit on sturdy pine benches or enjoy the high ceiling from a standing position. The Harvia M3 stove brings gentle warmth into the barrel, and through the glass door the cheerful dance of the fire becomes a glowing light on the sauna walls. Small windows and the door window also bring light into the Freestanding barrel sauna. One of the windows can also be opened.

Waste water under control

The optional Sauna-Seppo wash-water filter removes dirty water worries, because wash water passed through the filter can be released back into nature and building control will not start issuing environmental fines.

Almost shoulder-carried delivery

We are happy to deliver the whole package right to your home yard, and you do not need lifting equipment if you choose delivery by Hiab truck. However, the Freestanding barrel sauna weighs only 800 kg, so you can also collect it on your own trailer if the towing capacity of your car is sufficient. You could almost throw it over your shoulder and carry it home, but not quite. A trailer is better.

The delivery contents include everything essential, down to the roofing felt. We can also provide architectural drawings if needed for the building authorities, but nowadays a sauna of this size should be possible without an actual building permit. The customer is responsible for the foundations. The cabin comes with illustrated instructions and building permit drawings, which you can request in advance, so when delivery arrives you can just get to work and set up your new fun yard sauna. You will need a drill, screwdriver, hammer, saw, tape measure, pencil and a calm enthusiasm for assembly. Always read the instructions carefully before carrying out each step.
