A sauna for difficult locations

Barrel saunas are lightweight and can be moved even after the first steam session. The secret of a barrel sauna built on a solid gravel bed is the support legs under the barrel, which keep the sauna off the ground and make moving it easy. The absence of heavy fixed foundations makes positioning the sauna easier, and many people use a barrel sauna as a beach sauna, for example, as a sauna with fixed foundations cannot be built too close to the shoreline. Of course, you can place your barrel sauna on a terrace or pour a concrete base underneath it, but the positioning is mostly limited only by imagination. Still remember to level the base so the sauna stands straight. The idea is not to take the sauna on the road in the middle of a steam session.

The barrel sauna can be moved with a forklift or with a tractor’s three-point hitch using straps. A sauna moved to the beach for the summer is easy to move back for winter closer to the cottage or house with help from the neighbour’s farmer.

A small space wonder

The wooden sauna capsule fits up to 6–8 bathers, depending on hip size and comfort preferences. The high-quality pine benches pamper the bather with their warm tone. The Harvia M3 stove brings gentle heat to the barrel, and through the glass door the cheerful play of the fire becomes a glowing light on the sauna walls. Small windows and the window in the door also bring light into the barrel. You do not need to stop sauna bathing because of running out of oxygen, as plenty of extra air can conveniently be let in by opening the door for a moment.

Getting rid of dirty water

The Sauna-Seppo wash water filter, available as an accessory, takes care of wastewater worries, as wash water passed through the filter can be released back into nature and building control will not start issuing environmental fines.

Delivery that can almost be thrown over your shoulder

We are happy to deliver the whole package right to your home and you do not need a lifting device when you choose delivery by HIAB truck. However, the barrel sauna with front terrace weighs only 800 kg, so you can also collect it with your own trailer, if your car’s towing capacity is sufficient. You could almost throw it over your shoulder and carry it home, but not quite. A trailer is better.

The delivery contents include everything essential, roof felt included. We can also provide architectural drawings if needed for the building authorities, although nowadays a sauna of this size should be possible without a formal building permit. You can request the illustrated instructions and drawings included with the cabin in advance, so when delivery arrives you can just get started and build your new yard sauna. You will need a drill, screwdriver, hammer, saw, tape measure, pencil and calm enthusiasm for the assembly work. Always read the instructions carefully before carrying out each step.
