We at Hyvän Kaupan Paikka have been a bit playful and full of humour, so after one meeting we decided to stand the barrel sauna on end. That gave birth to the Upright Barrel Sauna, a fun sauna, although you can take the steam seriously there too — it is a full-fledged sauna despite its novelty.

The Upright Barrel Sauna is a bit like the deodorant of saunas: it fits into almost any gap in the yard or even a courtyard of an apartment block. And you don’t even need to use deodorant — you’ll be sweating in the sauna anyway. With a diameter of just 2.1 m, the only problem in siting it is that there are so many possible places. Of course you can order several Upright Barrel Saunas across your yard, but start with one and you’ll get a really compact yet functional sauna for a small space. A sauna for difficult sites

Barrel saunas are lightweight structures and can still be moved after their first steams. The secret of a barrel sauna built on a firm gravel bed is that there are support feet under the barrel that keep the sauna off the ground and make it easy to move. The absence of heavy and fixed foundations makes siting the sauna easier, and many use the barrel sauna as a beach sauna, because you cannot build a permanently founded sauna right on the shoreline. Of course you can place your barrel sauna on a terrace or pour a concrete slab underneath, but siting the sauna is mostly down to imagination. Still, remember to check the base with a spirit level so the sauna stands straight. The idea is not to take the sauna on the road mid-steam.

The barrel sauna can be moved with a forklift or a tractor lift using slings. A sauna moved to the beach for summer is easy to shift closer to the cottage or house for winter with the help of a neighbouring farmer.

In the Upright Barrel Sauna you can sit or stand

The raw-wood sauna can be finished in the colours you prefer. The spruce sauna capsule accommodates 4–6 bathers and they can choose whether to sit on sturdy pine benches or enjoy the high ceiling by standing. The Harvia M3 stove provides gentle heat and the playful flames through the glass door cast a warm glow on the sauna walls. Small windows and the door window also bring light into the Upright Barrel Sauna. One window can be opened.

Handle greywater

Available as an accessory, the Sauna-Seppo wash-water filter removes greywater worries: wash water passed through the filter can be discharged back into the environment without the building control writing environmental fines.

Almost shoulder-carried delivery

We are happy to deliver the complete unit to your yard and you do not need lifting equipment if you choose delivery by Hiab truck. The Upright Barrel Sauna weighs only about 800 kg, so you can also collect it with your own trailer if your vehicle’s towing capacity is sufficient. You could almost throw it over your shoulder and carry it home — almost. A trailer is better.

The delivery contents include all essentials, even roofing felt. We can also provide architectural drawings for building authorities if required, but nowadays this size of sauna should be possible without a formal building permit. Making the foundations is the customer’s responsibility. The cabin includes illustrated instructions and you can request building-permit drawings in advance so that when the delivery arrives you can immediately start assembling your new fun yard sauna. You will need a drill, a screwdriver, a hammer, a saw, a tape measure, a pencil and a calm enthusiasm for assembly. Always read the instructions carefully before performing any work steps.
