Heat treatment of the wood greatly improves its resistance to rot and stabilises its dimensions, so decking boards, fences and louvres retain their original, straight shape.

Thermally modified wood is suitable for all climates, requires little maintenance and does not need surface treatment. It will age to an attractive grey under UV light if not treated with a UV-protective pigmented oil or similar. Only heat and steam are used in its production, so it is completely non-toxic
