Mercedes‑Benz Sprinter Campervan Project, 2016, Espoo

Now there is an almost finished campervan project available, and it can of course be driven with a category B driving licence.

Best of all, it is registered as a panel van, meaning its tax is nearly half that of an equivalent motorhome!

The previous owner has already completed the most labour‑intensive and time‑consuming construction work: insulation and interior surfaces for the roof, walls and floor. The cabinets — overhead lockers, base units and bed frames — only need small finishing touches. The floor has insulation under the laminate. Missing are the electrical cables for the roof fan and auxiliary heater, and the leisure battery.

There are currently sleeping places for 2 in the fold‑up top bed and 2–3 in the lower beds, depending on whether the separate beds are joined with a panel. Mattresses are missing from the lower beds, but there is a mattress in the upper bed.

Two solar panels have been fitted to the habitation roof and their controller has been routed under the bed, where there is plenty of space for a battery. Electric roof vent fan.

On the right‑hand side there is also an opening ventilation window.

The passenger seat has an added heater fitted, but it is not connected to the electrics.

At this stage of the build you can still easily adapt the interior to your preferences.

The chassis has been upgraded, e.g. high‑quality Koni shock absorbers fitted at each corner and an air suspension fitted at the rear by Vallilan Takomo, which can be conveniently adjusted from the cab so the vehicle can be levelled easily even on uneven ground.

The drivetrain is Mercedes' genuine 97 kW (130 hp) engine and drives very well. The body is still in good condition.

The cab roof lining has been changed to a dark colour and a Garmin navigation unit added.

It also has cruise control and air conditioning.

Inspected in May.
