Mercedes-Benz 190, 1983, Rovaniemi

A piece of history available.

1983 basic 190 Mercedes that once received Brabus tuning both inside and out.

Brabus skirts, front and rear bumper lips, steering wheel and instrument cluster.

Wheels: Monoblock 1, size 8x16.

The entire interior is intact and included. Some door cards have small areas where the trim has torn away but can be glued back as the fabric is otherwise sound.

I have owned the car since 2014. I started restoring it: it has been stripped, the engine bay, sills and floorpan have been welded. The left rear arch has been replaced and at that point my enthusiasm ran out because the right one still needs fixing. A repair panel is included.

The rear subframe has been media-blasted and painted; new bushings and control arms fitted except for the camber adjustment links. The reason is the rear hubs are in place and I didn’t get around to fitting the rods. Spare control arms and fittings, new, are included.

From the Brabus suspension probably only the front shock absorbers remain; the rear has KYB shocks and I believe HR lowering springs were fitted originally at each corner to match Brabus standards. It took three weeks to sort but it now has springs that are closest to the original setup.

I’ve tried to regain enthusiasm for building and there were several engine plans and builds, but I no longer have the drive, so the car should go to someone who will finish it and drive it.

It has been in our household since 2005 and I bought it from my brother in 2014.

I’m not certain when the Brabus package was fitted; I suspect around 1995.

Some of the car’s documents were lost during moves.

Note!

US-spec headlamp units are no longer included.

The car has no mechanicals: the engine and gearbox are completely missing. The right halfshaft was borrowed for use and that donor was later sold. A halfshaft can be provided and bolted in so the car can be put on its wheels and pushed onto a trailer.
