The Kioto collection, designed for Veke by interior designer Linda Baki, features clear lines and earthy tones. This minimalist, timeless 6-person dining set is made from durable pine. The surface has been treated with a varnish specially designed for outdoor use. A striking slatted detail, influenced by both Finnish and Japanese interiors, is a focal point of the furniture.

• Care instructions text: Store indoors in winter in a dry, well-ventilated place. Wipe spills and stains from the top surface immediately with a clean cloth. Use a damp or slightly wet wipe with a neutral cleaning solution if needed (e.g. diluted dishwashing liquid). Dry the surface thoroughly. The top is not resistant to chemicals, hot items or substances – these can damage the finish and may leave marks. If necessary, re-treat with a water-based varnish suitable for outdoor use. Sand previously varnished surfaces to clean wood (remove sanding dust thoroughly) or test adhesion of a new varnish on a lightly sanded area. Wood oil is only suitable if the varnish is removed from the surface.

• Material, additional info: The wood is first stained with a water-resistant, water-based stain. The surface is then treated three times with a water-based acrylic varnish. Both products are intended for outdoor furniture but can be used indoors as well. The wood used in the furniture is knotty pine; natural cracks, knot holes, resin channels and unevenness are permitted. Small hairline cracks from natural wood movement are typical for pine tops and do not weaken or affect the lifespan of the top. Cracks typically appear in winter and close in summer as the wood swells. The amount of resin, heartwood and variations in thickness and composition of the boards may cause colour and pattern differences in the top. The colour may change slightly over time as is typical for wooden furniture.
