Defects and other observations

  • The bike was ridden about 1,000 km last summer without problems

  • During the winter the needle valves seized and, with the fuel tap frozen open, fuel drained into the engine

  • In spring the engine oil/filter and spark plugs were changed, the battery was charged and an aftermarket carburettor repair kit fitted

  • Ridden a few dozen kilometres this summer and found the carburettor still needs tuning — lacks power at low and mid revs and backfires slightly

  • Smokes when cold but hasn't affected my riding as it largely stops once warmed up

  • Rear tyre slowly loses air (not checked whether valve or tyre)

  • Small marks left on the tank by a tank bag (bag not included)

  • No other faults are known to me, though at this age hidden issues may well exist
