To satisfy a taste for comfort and the small sporty streak that often hides within, Volvo developed an interesting suspension solution for the S80 sedan. It calls this Four-C.

Four-C uses electronically adjustable dampers made by Monroe & Öhlins, which together with the traction- and stability-control systems adjust the suspension according to the driving situation.

There are two selectable settings: Comfort and Sport. The former is soft and comfortable, the latter sporty and firm.


The car had a 2.5-litre, 210 hp turbo engine, with plenty of power and torque. The gearbox was a five-speed automatic that worked very well. As is common today, the transmission can also read the driving situation and style and take that into account when shifting.
