Ford Transit, 1984, Helsinki

Unfinished project. A welder's dream. Minor oil leak.

I bought this beauty in 2016 intending to restore it properly, but years passed, money ran out and motivation disappeared. After a couple of years of tinkering it was left standing in the yard. In the last year it has been kept in a warm garage. There is quite a lot of rust, but nothing that can't be repaired. New rear arch and sill panels have already been fitted on the right side with a temporary paint finish. The left side needs the same work; the arch panel is included. There are also holes near the front wheel arches, in the driver's floor and the step. The tailgate has been patched after I reversed into a concrete pump leg one morning — a spare tailgate is included. The bulkhead is included as well.

The interior is about 90% soundproofed — walls, floor and roof. Thermal insulation has also been added to the walls. Finished with solid wood trim treated with wood oil. This was once intended to be made habitable. Original plywood wall panels are also included.

The original seats have been removed and replaced with Chevrolet captain's seats. The passenger seat swivels 360°. Fitted with studded tyres I believe bought new in 2017–2018. Driven a maximum of 10,000 km. New mirrors, new batteries and a new alternator. Starts instantly.

At inspection there were comments about an oil leak at the front (not located), a small oil leak at the rear and rust on the right rear sill. The right sill has been repaired. The headlight housings are pending an upgrade — I bought them but they have been misplaced before fitting.

This can still be a nice and stylish vehicle with a bit of care and attention.

It's a vehicle. It carries everything :)
