"You'd think you couldn't improve on something already excellent. The VMK20 Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones sold tens of thousands of pairs and received near-universal praise from both press and customers, but development keeps moving and there's always more to learn. Valco listened closely to feedback on the VMK20 and built an "older brother" for the popular model — the VMK25.

First thing we did was refresh the design again with Finnish Ratamo Design. We aimed for a modern look while keeping the family resemblance, so no one will mistake VMK25 for a parcel-delivery kid's headphones.

Because wireless headphones don't need to glow or blink, both indicator LEDs are inside the earcup. That way you can be sure you won't be noticed if you're crouched in the bushes listening.

A fun detail in the VMK25 is the neat magnetic colour panels, which are easy to swap (and wash) and to customise yourself.

The VMK20s were already finely tuned, and adjustments alone wouldn't make them better. That's why these have new composite drivers that allow even better sound than before. The Bluetooth tech is Qualcomm-grade here too.

We also invested in noise cancellation: these headphones use a brand-new ANC circuit supported by thick, sound-damping memory-foam cushions. The ANC now also includes a transparency mode — a bit silly in our view, but much requested by customers.

Finnish design - Valco designer Lauri Lumme improved the model so the VMK25 catches less wind and suits more types of activity. We believe headphones shouldn’t glow or blink, so we placed both indicator LEDs inside the cup. This ensures you won't be noticed when sneaking around with your VMK25s. We also made the side panels replaceable, making them easier to keep clean, customise and swap to follow current social media trends. Ergonomics and quality - The repositioned headband adjustment offers a wider range than before (making life easier for people with very large or very small heads). Overall it's more solid and higher quality with a lovely soft-touch finish. Fit is firmer, surface materials feel a bit more premium, earcups are slightly roomier and the frame is even more durable.

Improved sound quality - The VMK20 already earned praise among audiophiles. New (larger and better) drivers enable top-class sound. Our sound guru Jasse "Jazmanaut" Kesti couldn't believe his ears adjusting these. The sound profile stays the familiar studio-neutral tuning that our sound chief Jasse has refined. Music sounds as it was mixed and mastered in the studio. The "sound technician" title is well deserved!

Excellent noise cancellation - A completely new ANC chipset reduces background noise even more effectively. The ANC also includes the transparency mode our customers requested. Press the button and the headphones use the ANC microphones to let ambient sound through. Is it anti-ANC? It's a handy feature for hearing announcements or even eavesdropping on seatmates who think you’re listening to something loudly next to them. Ha-ha!" - Valco
