Toyota Hiace, 1988, Kittilä

This needs no introduction to those who know these things, but here’s a short description anyway. According to family history it used to be the paper mill's fire truck, which explains the mileage.

Has been stored in a garage in recent years and started and moved around occasionally to keep things running. It hasn't been inspected for years and is deregistered. Last time it was inspected it passed first time.

The worst problem is rust, as shown in the photos. I haven't had the time, skill, money or motivation to tinker with it further. However, replacement arches and sills still seem to be available online, so it wouldn't be an impossible project for someone handy.

Timing overhaul recently carried out at this mileage. When four-wheel drive is engaged there is a loud clunk when turning — possibly the driveshaft or a universal joint is faulty; I haven't investigated further. The battery is poor but it will still start a few times when on a charger. There may be other hidden and unexpected issues with a vehicle of this age, so it is sold as seen — no warranty, exchange or return.

The van has a heater in the rear cargo area. There is also some kind of charging device under the passenger seat that might charge the battery, but its functionality is not guaranteed. The partition and wall panels are included, currently loose, as there was once an idea to panel the walls and convert this into a camper. It's been used for trips so two mountain bikes and a double bed, etc. fit without problems.

Everyone knows the value of these, so I won't be letting it go for a few hundred euros.

The vehicle is indeed deregistered and uninspected, so collection must be done on a trailer or by obtaining transit plates or similar. It is, however, in drivable condition.
