Defects and other observations

The car once in the spring triggered a gearbox fault warning while driving and, after being switched off, would not restart.

It was towed to a workshop, where it was found that the gearbox control unit could not be contacted.

After disconnecting the battery terminal it worked again.

At the workshop the wiring loom and the controllers' power supplies and earths were inspected; everything was in order. The workshop suggested it may run for hours or years before the fault reappears, if it does, and that it is difficult to diagnose when the fault does not recur.


Since then the car has been driven several hundred kilometres without issues. However, faith in reliability ended for that reason and a newer car was bought, so this one is for sale.


So it may have been a one-off “hiccup” and the car may run fine for years, or something may fail at some point. It is currently operating normally!
