Audi A6 Quattro, 2004, Nurmijärvi

Better-than-average A6 with petrol engine, automatic, quattro and a towbar — aimed at someone wanting a low-reserve price.

• First, remember the car is already over 20 years old.

• Despite this, it is in fairly tidy condition.

• There are small rust spots and one larger scratch/rust combination on the right rear corner (photographed).

• Interior otherwise intact except one glovebox hinge is broken and the front passenger door speaker grille is damaged. An intact same-colour door trim can be sourced from a breaker for €100.

• Service book lost over time, but recent repairs have been carried out.

• The transmission occasionally hesitates in certain conditions; an oil change helped a lot but did not fully remove the issue. A flush may help.

• Small oil seep from the vacuum pump area of the engine.

• Tyres are legal but not the best.

• Centre console shows age-related wear (photos).

• 19-inch (48 cm) summer wheels make the car quite prone to tramlining and feel harsh. Alignment may improve the feel or I would personally switch to 18-inch (46 cm) wheels.

• Well equipped for its age

• Quattro works

• Includes 2-zone climate control, electric leather seats, cruise control, keyless-go, phone Bluetooth and rear window shades, etc.

• All seats intact and even tidy

• All extras appear to work

• Looks good with 19-inch (48 cm) summer wheels

• 16-inch (41 cm) studded tyres for winter (some studs missing)

• Decent auxiliary light on the front.

• Recalls handled and recently inspected.

• Recently serviced. Oil and spark plugs, gearbox oil, power steering pump, and a number of gaskets replaced, including valve cover gaskets.

• Timing chains looked recently renewed.

• Towbar present, no key. So currently fixed/non-detachable.

• Nice V6 rumble.

I have test-driven the Audi and it’s ready for the next owner. Unfortunately not to my taste.
