The active noise cancellation reduces ambient noise by up to 45 dB. You can choose between three noise‑cancelling levels or let the Ear (a) decide for you: with the NothingX app (available for smartphones) you can enable adaptive ANC, letting the Ear (a) optimise the noise‑cancelling level in real time according to your environment.

11 mm drivers deliver a full and clear sound with deep bass, balanced mids and crisp highs. Compared with the older Ear (2) model, the sound is stronger and the bass deeper. Air flows through the driver more efficiently, reducing distortion and improving clarity. The app offers a bass‑boost algorithm that emphasises low frequencies in real time for even punchier bass.

The detail‑accurate Ear (a) is Hi‑Res certified up to 990 kbps and up to 24‑bit / 96 kHz. It supports the LDAC codec, allowing high‑resolution audio over Bluetooth (requires an LDAC‑capable source device).

The earbuds offer up to 42.5 hours of playback with the case (ANC off) and support fast charging. Clear Voice microphones with a wind‑noise suppression algorithm ensure clear hands‑free calls.

The NothingX app for Android or iOS provides many extra features and automatically delivers firmware updates. In the app you can enable bass boost and Bluetooth dual‑connection, allowing the earbuds to be connected to two devices simultaneously. The earbuds can switch the primary connection (for example from tablet to phone) when you receive a call.
