With a little repair still a good runabout, even as a first car for a young driver. Also a good tuning project.


Tyres:

  • Winter tyres: Hankook on alloy wheels, will last another 2–3 winters.

  • Summer tyres: Minerva on alloy wheels, will last a couple more summers.


Condition and maintenance:

There are many good parts and panels if sold for spares. I don't have the time or space to tinker. The timing assembly has done 50,000 km, but the replacement interval has already passed (the belt looks in good condition and the VVT does not make noise). Drive components are intact and the automatic gearbox shifts smoothly. The most recent inspection included a remark about the windscreen, which has not been replaced. Vehicle taxes have been paid.


Notes:

On cold starts the underbody heat shield makes noise, but the sound stops once moving. Last summer the noise stopped completely for a long time after a 500 km trip when heat expanded the shield.

For the past 5 years I've driven exactly or just under 5,000 km/year. If I had the time and space I would repair it to pass inspection. It's been a reliable car, the best I've owned — it has never let me down. I'm even sad to part with it.
