Peugeot AUTOQUEST 400 (PEUGEOT-ELDDISJ5-280G92), 1990, Pello

READY FOR THIS SUMMER’S TRIPS WITH A FULLY REFURBISHED RETRO!! No engine warning lights, no blocked particulate filters and no ad-blue issues.

This vehicle was imported by Arctic Homecar from Keminmaa and has been in Pellon, West Lapland since new. The original owner, now a 92-year-old gentleman, is parting with his pride and joy. The vehicle has been exceptionally well cared for. Children have never been allowed to damage the interior, no animals have been inside, no smoking, and it has been stored under cover and protected from the weather.

Superficially there are small signs of use at the rear, after 36 years it has seen roads both in Finland and Norway. It has not been driven on salted roads, so rust is not an issue. No dampness has been measured, no leaks are visible, the interior smells healthy and there are no dark stains in the upholstery. The cab seats are untouched under newly fitted seat covers. New sound insulation was fitted in the cab to the inside of the doors, floor and bulkhead.

With a small fix it could be registered as a historic vehicle and run cheaply.

There is plenty of space. The alcove has a double bed. A pull-out bed at the rear. The dinette converts to a double bed. So it easily sleeps several people.

Seating capacity in the registration is 8. Seatbelt positions 6.

The vehicle suffered engine damage due to overheating in 2018, when the temperature gauge in the dash did not work. At that time the vehicle had the old instrument cluster showing approximately 340,000 km. The last inspection before the engine failure was on 30/10/2017 with 333,737 km. The then-owner was 84 years old. I, the advertiser’s grandson, became the registered owner in October 2020. I had started plans to rebuild the engine already in 2019, but sourcing parts proved very difficult. Fiat engines are relatively available, but this Peugeot engine model CRD93LS posed challenges and suitable workshops were scarce. We did not give up, as the vehicle had been in the family from new and was important to my grandfather. The project was carried through persistently down to the last nut. The engine was completed in autumn 2023. The vehicle went to inspection with a replaced donor instrument cluster showing 314,782 km after a six-year break in July 2024. Little driving was done and the next inspection was in June 2025 with 314,988 km, i.e. about 200 km per year. The current odometer shows 315,022 km and the next inspection is due in July. It can confidently be used for inspection before handing over to a buyer.

Only 240 km driven since the full engine rebuild!!!! The engine and clutch assembly are virtually new and in the run-in phase.

Note that all gears work, including fifth gear.
