For sale as an extra: 2002 model VW Golf IV.

During my ownership the rear brake discs, pads and calipers on both sides have been fitted. Basic oil and filter changes. Both drive shafts and CV joints, the front wheel bearing on the driver’s side, springs and shock absorbers on both front sides, and the top mounts of the dampers.

The timing head was replaced and the valve cover was resealed at an authorised dealer about 3 years ago. Spark plugs and plug leads, a new windscreen fitted professionally this spring and a new battery. Also fixed common Golf faults such as the driver’s window opening by itself — initially the entire lock module was replaced (including the often-criticised microswitch). That did not help: the spring in the driver’s door lock cylinder had broken, so a new lock cylinder was fitted, which uses different keys from the ignition. I can include the old lock cylinder if you want all locks to work with the same key. The leaking spots under the windscreen water tray were opened, cleaned and resealed. Water now stays outside the car. The fresh-air filter was replaced at the same time.

This spring the seats were removed and cleaned with a textile washer and the whole carpet was cleaned. During my ownership the alternator and the engine breather oil separator have also been replaced. It has been well maintained. Because it has stood unused the brake discs have surface rust — the inspector mentioned this aloud but did not put it on the report. The only repair request was that one headlight is aimed too high. Some kind of tuning headlights have been fitted and the headlight height adjustment works the wrong way round.

Included are well-preserved stud tyres on steel wheels. Summer tyres on tuning wheels are also included. The summer tyres are quite worn.

The body has stone chips, paint defects etc. But hey, this car is already 25 years old. Mileage 251,000 km
