The Manner plank table has a beautiful solid oak top. The top consists of two separate glued panels. We try to select panels with as similar tones as possible, but, as is natural for wood, there may be colour variations between pieces. Each table is unique—no two are exactly the same—as tone and grain vary depending on the tree’s growing conditions.

The top has a slightly brushed surface that highlights the oak’s natural features. The table is finished with three coats of water-based lacquer intended for indoor use. The lacquered surface does not require the regular maintenance that an oiled surface does. Knots are a natural part of solid wood; they may have narrow filled splits. The surface is not completely even—oak has a slightly rustic texture that can be felt when running your hand over it. Due to the texture, there may be small variations in sheen in the lacquer. The table’s sturdy, modern metal legs are finished with powder coating. The legs fixed to the ends leave ample room for chairs.

Care/washing instructions: For cleaning wooden parts we recommend using a slightly damp soft cloth. If a liquid is spilled, wipe it up before it dries. If necessary, dirty surfaces can be cleaned with a mild detergent or soap. Rinse and dry the cleaned area afterwards. Do not use strong or abrasive cleaners. Check regularly that fittings and screws are still tightened. Also avoid placing corrosive substances or hot pans and similar items directly on the bare table surface.

Material, additional information: Oak is very hard and durable and therefore dense. This causes the wood to react notably to changes in humidity. In heated indoor air in winter the wood dries and shrinks and in summer it absorbs moisture and swells. This variation can be as much as 7–9 mm in a one-metre-wide top. The top may warp slightly in winter but will correct in summer, or vice versa. This is a natural property of wood and cannot be completely eliminated. Small hairline cracks due to wood movement are also typical for oak and do not weaken the top or affect its lifespan or durability. Wood reacts to light within a few weeks and its tone changes compared with a new surface. Objects left on the top may also leave marks where the surrounding area receives more light.
