Volvo V70, 2005, Hyvinkää

The pictured Volvo V70 Chromium Edition is sold for repair or for spare parts.

Facelift model but still with the better black‑top engine (no particulate filter) and M56 manual gearbox.

At Hyvinkään Autosalva the CEM unit was diagnosed as faulty (no guarantee this is the correct diagnosis, see photos) and I no longer have the time or interest.

The fault started a little over a month ago when the battery was changed, after which the immobiliser activated.

I initially diagnosed the issue as loss of key data and it was unsuccessfully reprogrammed at another workshop.

The car was then towed to Hyvinkään Autosalva where they also tried to reprogram the key without success. A new key was ordered but it also would not programme. The mechanic then stated the CEM unit had been exposed to moisture; the photos show corrosion.

The car is not in neat condition inside or out but worse examples have been seen; it does have age and mileage. The windscreen is cracked and a repair was required at the inspection. All major cosmetic defects are shown in the listing.

Before the battery change everything worked normally and no warning lights were on, but naturally no guarantees can be given.

Positives:

- brand new Bosch 100 Ah battery

- timing kit and water pump 2023

- inspection valid until 11/2026

- Jom suspension kit fully installed

- attractive 18" summer wheels with adapters, legal tread on all

- winter-wheel rims slightly worn but fitted with Hakkapeliitta R5 studless tyres with a few thousand kilometres

- Pioneer touchscreen head unit

- aftermarket speaker system fitted by a previous owner which actually sounds very good (better than my XC90 premium system).

In the last year I believe all engine mounts have been replaced, a rebuilt alternator fitted, an intercooler, turbo/cooler hoses and various suspension parts.

About 1,000 km before the fault I carried out the following services:

- new oil and filter then Forte motor flush -> new oil and filter with Forte engine treatment

- air filter

- cabin filter

- power steering oil flushed with about two litres then RVS added

- gearbox oils changed and RVS added

- cooling system cleaned and about 20 litres of coolant flushed through

The car is currently at Hyvinkään Autosalva.

The car has power but the immobiliser prevents it from starting. Buyer is responsible for collection.
