Up for auction: a Skoda Octavia that has just passed a clean re‑inspection!


The car feels reasonably tidy for its mileage and the engine is surprisingly peppy for a 1.6‑litre! I have driven the car about 50 km for test driving — a few observations are listed under "Defects and other observations". Skodas are known for space and the boot on this car is huge for its size!


Just inspected and the fault found at the first inspection has been repaired (there was runout on the rear brakes, but they have now been cleaned, bled and the handbrake tightened; values are now good and even!), so it has a clean inspection sticker. Proper service history and the timing belt was changed in July 2025, so it won’t need attention for several years. According to the previous owner the battery was replaced in winter. There are also receipts from earlier repairs.


Studded winter and summer tyres with good tread, both on Skoda wheels (see pictures)!


The car includes the following equipment: towbar, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, heated seats, trip computer, engine heater and interior socket, rear window heater, traction control, front electric windows and electrically adjustable mirrors. All features appear to work (including cruise and seat heaters). A quick test of the air conditioning at around 18°C in the garage felt like it was blowing cool air.

Defects and other observations

I have driven the car about 50 km for test driving in town and on the motorway; for its age and price it feels quite reasonable!


A few observations;

  • The clutch engages quite high / is nearing the end of its life. It doesn’t slip yet and the gears engage properly, but it will likely need replacing at some point.

  • The remote on the second key does not work. Probably the battery is dead, but I couldn't open the key shell to change it... 😅

  • The radio tends to cut out / does not find stations.


The car has not been subjected to a technical inspection by us and may have latent faults we have not been able to detect. Observations were made by the seller during an extended test drive and from information provided by the previous owner.
