Volkswagen Passat Estate, 2006, Turku

A nice red baritone for the next owner with a proper VR6 engine producing 250 hp. Same engine as in the Golf R32.

For its age and for a Passat the body is in good condition. Small rust spots visible in the photos. Paint flaws on the bonnet and rear spoiler and small stone chips. Paintwork otherwise OK.

The underbody is intact and in good condition. Not welded and no welding required.

Interior is relatively tidy; the driver’s seat has an initial tear on the left side. Small hole in the rear seat.

The engine runs excellently and the DSG gearbox is flawless. Shifts smoothly. Four-wheel drive works. Very fun in winter. Stable to drive, no rattles.

The winter tyres still have their studs and should last next season. Summer tyres have plenty of tread remaining and are on the original 17" wheels.

I have owned the car for just under a year and driven it under 10,000 km. Services and repairs have been carried out. The main known fault with the 3.2 engine has been addressed: the timing chain was replaced in December 2025. With the chain the oil pump chain, one sprocket, all guides, one camshaft timing adjuster, the oil separator (crankcase ventilation) and the valve cover gasket were also replaced. All work was done at 285,600 km. At the same time the engine oil, oil filter, air filter and cabin filter were changed.

Also replaced 2 ignition coils and the injector seals. Spark plugs were changed about 10,000 km ago and cam sensors replaced. Battery was replaced by the previous owner. Starts well even in very cold weather. I have kept the car in a warm garage. Rear window wiper motor replaced.

The trip computer display is acting up; sometimes it works normally. Either the circuit needs re-soldering or a new display or instrument cluster is required. This feature did not bother me.

Moderate fuel consumption on the motorway.

In 2017 an engine with 80,000 km was fitted. That engine has now done about 211,000 km. The body shows 287,000 km — noted in the service book.
