With a little work this TDV8 Land Rover will remain a very robust vehicle for a long time. The observed faults are listed first and are the reason the car is currently stationary. The left exhaust manifold is leaking (not investigated further but most likely a burnt gasket, a typical fault). The engine has an oil leak at least from the valve cover gaskets. Occasionally the car enters a transmission fault mode, triggering warning lights for the chassis and transmission; usually these clear after switching the car off, but sometimes it has needed to sit "overnight". There is suspicion that the transmission wiring harness grommet leaks oil into the connector causing intermittent contact issues. When the fault does not occur the car drives normally and gears shift normally; the low-range gearbox and other features also appear to work normally.

Other observed faults: the electric handbrake now shows an error after standing, parking sensors do not work, the A/C compressor magnetic clutch is broken, the coolant level sensor is broken, the rear passenger-side door does not open from the outside and the front passenger door does not open from the inside.

Cosmetic damage — I have tried to photograph all bumps and wear as accurately as possible.

Overall a tidy car and, with a little work, a very strong tow vehicle — which is why I kept it myself — it has pulled a large trailer and is very stable to drive even when loaded.

Work lights, a control panel and roof racks were installed a year ago (the panel is wired for front lights and the cabling is already on the roof). Manufacturer's retail value over €1,000 for the roof-mounted accessories alone. (The work lights also have an amber flashing function.)

At the same time the front grille, intake grilles and side indicators were renewed.

Working Webasto (heats the engine), excellent studless winter tyres (used for one winter). These cars come with a lot of standard equipment: Harman/Kardon hi-fi, electrically adjustable front seats, cruise control, navigation, CD changer, car phone, low-range gearbox, ride height selector, central locking, PDC (parking sensors), rain sensor, detachable tow hitch, 3,500 kg towing capacity. I'm sure not all features are remembered.

The vehicle is registered as a van; the original rear seats are kept and in good condition.

Some service/repair parts are included, e.g. a new expansion tank with level sensor, new valve cover gaskets, new front brake discs and pads (rears were changed a year ago). There may also be some filters etc.

Bid now for yourself a good workhorse!!!

I just took it for a spin (4 March 2026) and it worked normally again, but for long-distance collection it is recommended to use a trailer (it may also be possible to drive as far as Rovaniemi in its current condition — it depends on the day).
