Ion production requires an ioniser unit inside the machine. Ozone plates do not produce ions.

If the device you buy is claimed to produce negative ions, check that the unit contains the ion-producing component shown in the last picture.

ABOUT IONISATION:
Negative ions produced into indoor air act on light, positively charged airborne particles by attaching to them; the resulting larger, heavier particle falls quickly out of the breathing zone.

Negative ionisation also breaks down volatile organic compounds in the air, which are very harmful when inhaled indoors. Toxic compounds produced by microbes, mixed into indoor air as aerosols (= microbial toxins), represent a serious health risk if they reach the lungs and bloodstream. Heavy microbial toxins that do not mix into indoor air cause harm primarily via spores, which are the producers of these dangerous toxins.

The effectiveness of ozone (O3) and negative ionisation is based on high concentrations.

When the unit produces negative ions in addition to ozone, effectiveness is 5–10 times better than ozone alone and high concentrations remove spores and odours effectively even from porous materials, for example upholstery and bedding.

Fine particles in indoor air pose a serious health risk in homes and workplaces.

Harmful fine particles travel with inhalation to the deep lung (alveoli) and into the bloodstream, causing serious health problems in addition to asthma and allergies.

    Ozonation and negative ionisation are particularly effective in an overpressurised building.

    Ozone and negative ionisation together form compounds that can effectively remove microbial spores and various odours, for example sewer gases, smoke smells, bacterial and mould toxin odours, and persistent cooking or tobacco odours.

    Ozone and negative ionisation also remove fine particles and MVOC/MVOC and VOC compounds from the air.

    Ozonation and negative ionisation produce a pleasant, easy-to-breathe indoor air; a clean environment in which people feel comfortable.

    Ozone and negative ionisation together provide very clean indoor air for workspaces too.

Ozonation of indoor air cannot be performed while people are present because ozone is produced in high concentrations to destroy microbial spores.
