CAR FOR RECONDITIONING

Used as a taxi and well travelled, this wheelchair-accessible VW Caddy is sold FOR REPAIR. I made a short YouTube video showing that some parts work and it is drivable. Cold starts at −8 °C succeed. It does not stall, the idle is steady and the gears work as shown. The engine does not consume much oil. But...

Fault list:

ENGINE WARNING LIGHT IS ON.

At higher revs, around 3,000 rpm and above, when accelerating the glow plug light starts to flash. It feels like the engine does not produce full power. I read fault codes with a cheap code reader and included photos of the readouts in this listing. This is the car’s main issue. Cause unknown.

Webasto heater does not work.

The blower direction control does not work reliably. The knob is taped so the fan does not get switched away from the windscreen. The vent selector can stick.

The blower motor sometimes cuts out. It restarts if you give it a knock with your palm. If it stops working it is an easy part to replace on this car. It is located under/behind the glovebox by the front passenger’s feet. It is held with one screw and can be turned out. I have replaced a few on these cars; I don’t recall if I changed this one.

Under the car there are acceptable winter tyres. The summer tyres are still drivable and are included. Photos are in the listing. The third row of seats is included. The windscreen has no cracks. There are a few small rust spots in the paint. The exhaust was welded and repaired. All injectors have been replaced at different times. Flywheel replaced, etc.

The car has a working alcohol interlock (breathalyser) included in the sale. Next calibration 08/12/2026. Paper certificate in the glovebox.

Service book is partial. Many receipts for repairs.

The car has been standing in the yard for a few months, almost unused.

Dual-mass flywheel replaced at 440,003 km

Latest gearbox oil change done at 510,651 km

Timing belt kit and water pump change at 440,899 km

Injectors 1 and 2 (Bosch) replaced at 484,675 km. The workshop said the other injectors looked noticeably newer and were likely replaced earlier.

NOx sensor B replaced at 498,974 km

Exhaust work and parts at 474,000 km. The pipe was so corroded at one point that the mechanic welded and replaced sections.

Alternator replaced on 15/10/2024
