Yamaha Wolverine R-Spec 700 EPS, 2016, for repair, VAT, Hämeenlinna

Lightly used at a small horse yard. Used for arena levelling / winter snow work for five years with the same owner. Driven 3,728 km / 400 h. Service book was lost by the previous owner, but oil changes have been carried out annually regardless of hours. All final‑drive oils were changed just under two years ago; checked this autumn, all OK, no leaks.

- Electric power steering

- Heavy‑duty 170 cm Kimpex snow blade with quick‑attach, original working Yamaha winch with cable wired remote

- Tow hitch

- Additional LED lights fitted, one rear light not working

- Tyres not in the best condition but have served well in yard use; front snow chains

- Electrically selectable 4WD / diff lock, all functioning

- Plastics neat for their age as it hasn’t been used off‑road. There was a crack at the right corner of the cargo bed which has been plastic‑welded

- Upholstery intact throughout

The engine starts easily and runs well with no unusual noises. Power is intact, variator in good condition. Not smoking, nor burning oil.

BUT! The water pump seals were repaired before the turn of the year. A known fault on these Yamaha units is that the water‑pump shaft seal can allow coolant into the oil. The oil‑side and coolant‑side seals were replaced as a set with aftermarket gaskets. The fault was corrected then, but some light oil discolouration has recently been noticed. The discolouration is now much less than before the repair. It is suspected the aftermarket seal may be weeping coolant into the oil again. The seal will likely need replacing with an original Yamaha part. A small amount of coolant (about two capfuls) has been added since, so the change is minor. Alternatively, coolant may have been concentrated in the oil causing slight discolouration. In any case the vehicle is sold for repair and any repair will be the buyer’s responsibility. It can be used as is but oil colour should be monitored and at minimum an oil change carried out.
