From a collection: splendid officer's sword, circa 1855–1880.

Authentic infantry sword!!!!

So it is not a replica despite being in such fine condition!!!!

Perhaps about 150 years old!!!

Likely the French 1855 model; the same model was used in the USA.

In superb condition!!!

Unrestored and unpolished!!!!

No oxidation, only period-appropriate darkening on the blade!!!

No dents in the blade and it is straight!!!

Lovely patterns on the guard and the brass wire wrap on the grip intact!!!!

I did not immediately find any stamps; some may appear if the leather pad at the blade's base is removed

but it is so tightly fixed that I won't tear it off for that reason.

Length approximately 90 cm, not shortened or re-ground!!
