The ready-to-use freezing WC needs no water connection, drain or ventilation installation. Simply plug it into a socket. Its portability and plug-and-play installation make it an optimal choice for summer cottages and any non-sewered space. The oval 21-litre inner bucket located inside the seat is easy and hygienic to empty to a compost using a biodegradable bag.

Outstanding energy efficiency
Ekohytte Frost has been engineered with a strong focus on energy economy. Optimised compressor technology and extra-thick insulation make the WC extremely energy-efficient. Ekohytte Frost consumes only 0.36 kWh/day, roughly half the consumption of comparable competing products. The thick base insulation and tall adjustable feet allow the freezing WC to be used in underfloor-heated spaces.

Luxury for the cottage environment
Ekohytte Frost stands out from competing products with its beautiful, minimalist design. Comfort features include an insulated seat ring and a soft-close lid. A warm-gas pipe running under the seat uses wasted compressor heat to warm the seat while the unit runs. • The device has adjustable feet. Set them before use so the WC stands firmly and level.

• The toilet is intended for compostable waste, including toilet paper. Do not put anything non-compostable in it, e.g. rubbish, sanitary pads, chemicals, detergents, matches, ash or cigarette butts.

Placement
The WC should be placed in a warm indoor space. It can be used in underfloor-heated rooms thanks to its thick base insulation and tall feet. Heat increases the unit's power consumption, so we do not recommend placing it immediately adjacent to radiators or other heat sources. The optimal room temperature is +10 to +22 °C, maximum +30 °C. The WC must be level and secured using its feet.

Use

• Press the bottom of the bio-bag into the bucket and fold the top edges of the bag over the top of the bucket so the bucket can be dropped into the toilet seat

• Check that the bucket handle is inside so the seat ring and lid close properly

• Plug into the socket and switch the WC on using the power switch so that the green indicator lights

• Wait about one hour before use

Emptying

• When the bucket is about two-thirds full, the bio-bag must be changed

• Fold the top edges of the bag into the bucket and lift the bucket out of the seat

• Compost the waste in a household or garden compost bin to which you have added plenty of dry material before emptying

• Pierce the bag surface, e.g. with a fork, and cover with a layer of dry material

• Check whether ice has accumulated on the edges of the bucket basin. Defrost if necessary and dry the walls.

Use of drying material
No drying material is required in a freezing WC. Drying material is only needed for post-composting.

Cleaning
Clean the Ekohytte by wiping with a damp cloth. You may use common household cleaners. The bucket can be removed from the seat and washed with water. Dry it before putting it back. Do not use water to clean the rear refrigerant compartment. Clean it once a year by vacuuming.

Longer periods out of use

• Unplug the unit

• Empty, clean and dry the bucket and refrigerant basin

• Leave the lid open

• The unit can be stored in an unheated space
