Ion production requires an ioniser unit inside the machine. Ozone plates do not produce ions.

If the device you buy is claimed to produce negative ions, check that it contains the ion‑producing component shown in the last picture.

ABOUT IONISATION:
Negative ions produced into indoor air cause light, positively charged particles to aggregate by attaching to them; the resulting larger, heavier particle falls out of the breathing zone quickly.

Negative ionisation also breaks down volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the air, which are harmful when inhaled. Toxic compounds produced by microbes, mixed into indoor air as aerosols, form a severe health risk if they reach the lungs and bloodstream. Non‑aerosolised heavy microbial toxins cause harm mainly via spores, which are produced by these toxic organisms.

The effectiveness of ozone (O3) and negative ionisation depends on high concentrations.

When a device produces negative ions in addition to ozone, effectiveness compared with ozone alone is 5–10 times better, and high concentrations remove spores and odours effectively even from porous materials such as upholstered furniture and bedding.

Fine particles in indoor air pose a serious health risk in homes and workplaces.

Harmful fine particles travel with inhaled air to the deep lungs (alveoli) and into the bloodstream, causing serious health problems in addition to asthma and allergy.

Ozonation and negative air ionisation remove harmful fine particles from indoor air and also eliminate bacteria, moulds, viruses and various gases.

    Ozonation and negative ionisation work especially effectively in a positively pressurised building.

    Ozone and negative ionisation together create compounds that effectively remove microbial spores and various odours such as sewer gas, smoke, bacterial and mould toxins, and stubborn cooking and tobacco odours.

    Ozone and negative ionisation also remove fine particles and MVOC (Microbial Volatile Organic Compound) and VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) substances.
