An ion output requires an ioniser unit inside the machine. Ozone plates do not produce ions.

If the device you buy is claimed to produce negative ions, check that the unit contains the ion-producing component shown in the last picture.

ABOUT IONISATION:
Negative ions produced into indoor air cause light, positively charged airborne particles to clump together and fall out of the breathing zone rapidly because the formed molecule is larger and heavier.

Negative ionisation also breaks down volatile organic compounds in the air that are harmful when inhaled. Toxic compounds produced by many microbes (microbial toxins), mixed into indoor air as aerosols, create a substantial health hazard when they reach the lungs and then the bloodstream. Heavy microbial toxins not mixed into the air cause harm mainly via spores, which are the producers of these dangerous toxins.

The effectiveness of ozone (O3) and negative ionisation depends on high concentrations.

When the device produces negative ions as well as ozone, efficacy is 5–10 times better than with ozone alone, and high concentrations remove spores and odours effectively even from porous materials, for example upholstery and bedding.

Fine particles in indoor air pose a serious health risk in homes and workplaces.

Harmful fine particles travel with inhaled air into the deep lungs (alveoli) and then into the bloodstream, causing serious health problems in addition to asthma and allergies.

    Ozonation and negative ionisation are especially effective in an overpressurised building.

    Ozone and negative ionisation together create compounds that can remove microbial spores and various odours effectively, such as sewer gases, smoke smells, bacterial and mould toxin odours, and stubborn cooking and tobacco odours.
