Ultrasonic cleaners are ecological cleaning systems. 

The cleaning effect is produced by transmitting waves (invisible to the human eye) through the water containing the cleaning fluid. This creates thousands of tiny cavitation centres (microbubbles) that then implode under the influence of the same sound waves. The penetration of the microbubbles causes local, rapid pressure changes that remove dirt particles (grease, other impurities) from the surface of the item. With this method you can effectively clean all surfaces immersed in the cleaner without scrubbing or wiping the dirt away.

When used with a suitable fluid it is ideal for disinfecting all kinds of items.
