Ion production requires an ioniser component installed inside the unit. Ozone plates do not produce ions.

ABOUT IONISATION:
Negative ions produced into indoor air cause lightweight, positively charged airborne particles to cluster and fall out of the breathing zone rapidly.

Negative ionisation also breaks down volatile organic compounds in the air that are harmful when inhaled. Toxic compounds produced by microbes (microbial toxins), which mix into indoor air as aerosols, can cause serious health hazards when they enter the lungs and bloodstream. Heavy microbial toxins that do not mix into the air mainly cause harm via spores, which are the producers of these dangerous toxins.

The effectiveness of ozone (O3) and negative ion treatment is based on high concentrations.

When a device produces both ozone and negative ions, its effectiveness compared with ozone alone is 5–10 times greater, and high concentrations remove spores and odours effectively even from porous materials such as upholstery and bedding.

Fine particles in indoor air pose a serious health risk in homes and workplaces.

Harmful fine particles can travel into the bloodstream via the lower lungs (alveoli) and cause serious health problems in addition to asthma and allergies.

    Ozonation and negative ion treatment work particularly well in a positively pressurised building.

    Ozone and negative ion treatment together create compounds that can effectively remove microbial spores and various odours, for example sewer gases, smoke smells, bacterial and mould toxins, and stubborn cooking or tobacco smells.

    Ozone and negative ion treatment also remove fine particles and MVOC/VOC compounds from the air.

    Ozonation and negative ion treatment provide pleasant, easy-to-breathe indoor air and create a clean environment where people feel comfortable.

    Ozone and negative ion treatment together produce very clean indoor air suitable for workspaces.

Indoor ozonation cannot be performed while people are present because ozone is produced in high concentrations to destroy microbial spores.
